We have all heard that the industry is moving toward 5G. There has been endless speculation as to the who, what, where and why of it. While our nation’s capital works with municipalities and the carriers to streamline the roll-out, Qualcomm has been working on the logistics on how to get it done. Thankfully, their studies show that we have more of a head start than we originally thought! It seems that the bands above 24GHZ (a.k.a. mmWave) and the advancements in antenna technologies (5G New Radio) can work with EXISTING LTE Macro and small cell sites (such as the one shown here in Williamsport, PA) to provide expansive outdoor coverage. This is great news to data consumers and to those tasked with getting this network in place!
